The Holy War

We love any reason to have people over and party. One of our favorite reasons is for the holy war, BYU vs. The U. This football game is always a huge rivalry and who doesn't love a rivalry?! Rob attended BYU but didn't really care too much about them until he married me! We had to pick a side and we mostly chose The Y just to root against our cousin Z, a die hard Ute fan. Ever since we have started to fall more and more in love with our cougars! We had some friends over to watch the game and of course we needed some decor. What side do you choose?!

The Prep.

Yes, Bear has a cougar jersey!
All of the decor was super easy and cheap. I had felt to make the banners and red and blue streamers in my fourth of July box. I bought the Y and U letters and wooden footballs on sale at Joanne's.
The BYU packaging tape came from here and University of Utah duct tape here. I would recommend this BYU tape instead though, easier to work with.
I just taped them around mini gatorade bottles from the dollar store. I got this idea from It will Change Your Life, she has a wonderful holy war party she posted about.
The Y print I found on pinterest but can't seem to find it now.
I made the Utes print in photoshop.
For the twisted streamers I used the most awesome fringe scissors by Martha.
So much fun , rise and shout the cougars are out! GO BYU!

The Best Beef Sandwiches Ever

I'm not kidding you, these sandwiches are delicious. I only post about my food if I think you need to run and make it asap. I got the recipe from the lovely ladies over at Our Best Bites. I have yet to make on of their recipes I didn't love. This particular recipe has already been put on a card in my recipe holder. I followed their recipe with the exception of the sliced pepperoncinis, mine were whole. This recipe is not spicy either. I was worried about it because the mr. does not do spicy. He loved the sandwiches too.
The roast that has been salt and peppered goes in the crock pot after you brown all the sides
 Pour the peppers in
 The finished deal!
Go to Our Best Bites (full recipe on their website) right now and put these bad boys on your menu!
P.S. if you have leftovers make the baked chipotle beef taquitos they suggest, DIVINE! I thought I was at an authentic mexican restaurant, no joke.

Europe 2013 Stockholm, Sweden

Stockholm is a gorgeous city! I never imagined I would one day travel to Sweden but I am so glad we did! My cousin, Jonas, has lived in Europe for the last few years. On our last visit to Europe he was living in Amsterdam and we got to go visit him there and tour that wonderful city. This trip he was living in Stockholm so we decided to head up that way and visit him. It is so fun to hear him speak Swedish so beautifully and fluently. That cousin of mine sure has a gift for languages. Stockholm was our last stop on our wonderful adventure and we also got to meet up with my Grandma and Gary who had just come in from Austria.
I love a good city on the water
Look at the Swedish flag waving so proudly!

At the Stockholm City Hall
Grandma thought the water was too cold!
So blessed to travel with my Gma and for her instilling the travel bug in me
This is where the banquet is held for The Nobel Peace Prize
I imagined everyone dressed in their finest headed up these beautiful stairs.
The height of the stairs was done specifically to make it convenient for women to walk them in heels and gowns. How amazing is that?!
Imagine the discussions that happen here!!!
The building was stunning

and the view....
This mosiac room was gorgeous. The gold had me swooning.
I love the scenes from different parts of the world

We headed out on a boat to explore the archipelago
Gorgeous
Jonas was a little cold on the boat!
Love my Grandma so much!

Love this man of mine!

Europe 2013 Copenhagen, Denmark

Copenhagen is a beautiful city. We had so much fun exploring this new city! One thing that surprised us is that Scandinavia is expensive! That is something we would have liked to have known before hand.

We read somewhere that people take pictures with the Hans Christian Andersen statue shirtless. I can't find anything about that now...but here is Rob's attempt at that!

I loved this huge flower pot!
Lur Blowers sculpture honoring the earliest warrior Danes

The original Christus statue, so wonderful!

We were the only ones inside the beautiful Cathedral of Our Lady, with the exception of these sweet children singing so sweetly.
The twelve apostles flanked the cathedral and then Christ was at the end where they all lead. Loved it.

The exterior of the cathedral
Nyhavn, my favorite part of Copenhagen!

The Little Mermaid!!!!!

I remember this day so well. I was literally in heaven, exploring with my love. We had the most delicious hot candied almonds and I'm going to try and make them tonight!
I have so much fun with this mr. of mine!

The highlight of our trip was our unexpected time in the temple. I knew I wanted to go see the Copenhagen LDS Temple but didn't know we would be able to spend an entire evening there. We were able to do some work at the temple and also received a personal tour of the temple from the temple president. What a blessing that evening was.

I love seeing those words above the doors of all temples,
Holiness to The Lord, House of  The Lord!
In Danish,
Dedicated to The Lord, The Lord's House!
